Music Night at Bogies | Lenka w/ Ed Roth ($10 cover)

Thursday | September 1, 2016 | 7pm | Music Night at Bogies | Lenka w/ Ed Roth ($10 cover)

Funk, R+B and jazz collide orbiting around mesmerizing vocalist Lenka Shockley. Lenka is a singer songwriter of international descent born and raised in Los Angeles. Her spirit and originality shine through her music with joy. A professional since day one, nothing can stop Lenka. On the day of her first documented performance, the track she was to perform to wasn’t working, so she went acapella and stomped her feet for a beat until the musicians in the audience were inspired to join her and play. The intimacy of her performances reach to a personal level. Lenka can also be seen singing with the Brothers Johnson.

Co-writer and producer Ed Roth brings his soulful, melodic touch on keyboards. Roth has played and/or recorded with a very wide range of artists including Annie Lennox, the Brothers Johnson, Sophie B Hawkins, Rob Halford, Avett Brothers, Coolio, Keith Emerson, Tom Morello, and Angie Stone. As a solo artist, Roth charted top 25 ITunes Jazz USA, #6 ITunes jazz Italy, #1 single ITunes jazz in Greece, and had one single streamed over 500,000 times.

Bringing up the bottom end with flair and funk is Les King on the bass guitar. Les has played and/or recorded with a wide variety of artists including Tom Jones, Billy Preston, Brian Auger, Luther Vandross, Thelma Houston, Sophie B Hawkins, Robben Ford, and Shanice.

Digging a deep pocket on drums is Rock Deadrick. Rock’s credits include Tracy Chapman, Ziggy Marley, Was no Was, Diana Ross, Ben Harper, Sophie B Hawkins, and Kenny Loggins.

Fiery yet tasteful guitarist Linda Taylor rounds out the group. Along with being featured on “Whose Line is it Anyway”, Linda has played and/or recorded with Maia Sharpe, Sheila E, Christopher Cross, Edwin McCain, Chante Moore, Sophie B Hawkins and Tracy Chapman.
